Job summary

SEKISUI Aerospace, Inc. is seeking an experienced R&D Engineer III at our Renton, WA location to lead advanced materials development and manufacturing process initiatives for next-generation aerospace products.

You will partner with Engineering, Materials & Process, and Test teams to mature technologies, qualify materials, and scale processes from lab to production, while driving cost efficiency and quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Manufacturing, Chemical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years’ experience in research and development in manufacturing environment or a related engineering field
• Experience in development of composite materials and their constituents
• Familiarity with composite fabrication techniques.
• Hands-on lab and pilot manufacturing environments experience
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Project management experience
• Experience in problem solving and risk management

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple R&D projects with a strong focus on advanced materials development and technology maturation
• Develop and optimize composite manufacturing processes and material performance
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Legal, and Product Management
• Ensure scale-up and manufacturability from laboratory development to production implementation
• Design and execute DoE studies and coordinate with engineering teams to address challenges
