Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks an experienced R&D engineer to participate in manufacturing process development and execution for GTA and other high energy density welding methods.

The role emphasizes safety, security, and compliance, with responsibilities spanning research, design, testing, analysis, verification, and validation of engineering and technology solutions to improve production efficiency and yield.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Engineering plus 6 years related experience; PhD may be preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering and 2 years nuclear-related experience per DOE Order 426.2.
• Active DOE Q clearance required.
• Experience leading design, testing, verification, and validation of engineering solutions.
• Ability to develop technical approaches and make decisions to improve production yield.

Responsibilities

• Assists in researching, designing, testing, analyzing, verifying and validating engineering solutions for manufacturing operations.
• Develops technical approaches and makes decisions to implement solutions for complex problems.
• Leads technical decision-making at task level to support program objectives.
• Mentors junior staff and supports proposals and business development.
• Fosters safe, secure workplace practices and compliance with lab policies.
