Job summary

Abbott in Menlo Park, CA is seeking an R&D Engineer for a 12-month, 100% onsite assignment. The role focuses on engineering support in development of new medical device products with CAD tools like SolidWorks, and requires a Bachelor's degree and 0-6 years of related experience.

You will conduct feasibility studies, design and evaluate components and processes, ensure compliance with corporate policies, coordinate project activities, and document thoroughly.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support in creation and development of new medical device products (invasive and non-invasive).
• Utilize CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) for design and evaluation.
• Conduct feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality of concepts.
• Develop concepts from design to market release with proper documentation.
• Coordinate project activities and direct support personnel as needed.

Duties:

• Responsible for providing engineering support in the creation and the development of new medical device products (invasive and non-invasive). Experience with CAD (Solidworks Preferred)
• General Statistics knowledge preferred
• Experience with medical devices
• Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
• Researches, develops, designs, and evaluates mechanical and materials, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment.
• Conducts feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality.
• Develops new concepts from initial design to market release.
• Directs support personnel and coordinates project activities.
• Write and submit intellectual property (patents).
• Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.
• Investigates and evaluates existing technologies.
• Reviews or coordinates vendor activities to support development.
• Research various cost-effective, alternative approaches to current processes.
