Job summary

Siemens is seeking a Research & Development Co-op in Wendell, NC, aligned with NC State University. You will support projects in Low Voltage Motor Control Centers, create 3D models, and develop detailed drawings to verify design integrity.

You will work on-site full-time during Summer and Fall 2027, enrolled in a BS program, and be within 50 miles of Wendell. SolidWorks/AutoCAD/NX experience is a plus, with a strong emphasis on quality and hands-on prototyping.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Candidates must be enrolled with the North Carolina State University co-op program.
• Ability to work on-site full-time (40 hours per week) during the Summer and Fall 2027 semesters.
• Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide housing or relocation support.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
• This co-op opportunity is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment.

Responsibilities

• Support R&D projects for Low Voltage Motor Control Centers, including VFD and Disconnect Switch units.
• Create and update 3D models of copper and sheet metal assemblies to support manufacturing operations.
• Develop part and assembly drawings and verify design accuracy through visual checks.
• Support prototype builds by preparing JT files and assisting with hands-on build activities.
• Complete assigned product support tasks related to non-conformances and design errors.
