Qualifications

  • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
  • 1 year coatings experience with epoxy/urethane/color/raw materials focus.
  • Familiarity with application and troubleshooting of industrial coatings.
  • Practical understanding of spectral measurement data.
  • Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis.

Job description

This Protective & Marine R&D Chemist I will be responsible for completion of Commercialization activities for the United States and Canada. The R&D Chemist I position is accountable for contributing to the execution of projects and/or the solution of problems with minimal to moderate complexity. Primary responsibilities include supporting/leading projects in the areas of service requests, quality support for current product lines, continuous improvement initiatives, technology transfers, RM support, and other control chemist activities. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with development team to support development and commercialization of new technologies.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.

Travel: 10%

  • Designs and executes experiments, performs basic test methods and analysis of results.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed documentation of lab work, accurate and up-to-date project documentation and provides written project updates.
  • Communicates within department and within a primary network of contacts.
  • Functions under supervision and establishes own time lines with minimal changes made by supervisor.
  • Accountable for contributing solutions to moderately complex projects.
  • Communicate detailed ideas concisely through written communication by writing technical reports.
  • Adheres to quality standards in accordance with the Global Business Management System.
  • Comply with and displays knowledge of all safety and security regulations and maintains a clean work area
  • Travel for technical conferences and product commercialization support. Provide outside customer service.
  • Train or mentor new technicians.
  • Adhere to company safety standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1,etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • 1 year coatings experience with a focus on epoxy, urethane, color or raw materials
  • Familiarity with application and troubleshooting of industrial coatings.
  • Practical understanding of spectral measurement data
  • Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis
  • Math knowledge
  • Analytical chemistry experience and the ability to extend it beyond the realm of coatings
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year Protective & Marine coatings experience
  • Experience with solvent-borne and water-borne epoxy and urethane chemistries.
  • Familiarity with application and troubleshooting of industrial coatings.
  • Proficient in statistics and data analysis.
  • Design of Experiment

Successful candidate will be required to sign an Employee Restrictive Covenant Agreement where permitted by law.
