Job summary

The University of Connecticut seeks a Technology Transfer Licensing Associate Services professional to evaluate and manage new inventions, licensing, IP work, and contract negotiations within the Technology Commercialization group. This role links with the NSF Quantum Technologies Engine in Connecticut to translate quantum science to market.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in physical sciences or engineering.
  • At least one year of technology transfer experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of quantum, AI and Machine Learning applications.
  • Experience in laboratory work.
  • Experience working in an academic environment and ability to interact with faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Educate faculty, staff, and students about quantum tech transfer and IP processes.
  • Support senior staff in review of invention disclosures in the physical sciences.
  • Assist in faculty and student startup creation and venture program support.
  • Support the Quantum Accelerator program.
  • Assist with preparing marketing materials and outreach to promote university technologies.
  • Maintain records and track invention disclosures, patent activities, and commercialization efforts.
  • Meet with faculty, researchers, and staff to gather information related to inventions and ongoing research.
  • Participate in patenting and commercialization decisions and help prepare materials for review.
  • Assist with confidentially agreements, MTAs, and other tech transfer documents.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, entrepreneurs, investors, and researchers.
  • Participate in programs and events that promote innovation and academia-industry collaboration.
  • Maintain databases and reports related to IP, licensing, and commercialization efforts.
  • Coordinate with Program Manager for UIR program to establish technology translation and IP evaluation.
  • Work collaboratively with OVPR staff to support departmental goals and initiatives.
