Job summary

IonQ in the United States is seeking a Principal Solutions Architect to design how networks become quantum-safe for the world's largest network operators, enterprises, and government agencies.

You will split time between customer-facing architecture discussions, migration planning, proofs of concept, and internal design authority work, influencing standards, reference architectures, and product requirements that IonQ builds against.

Qualifications

• 15+ years designing and securing enterprise and/or service provider networks.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of routing, switching, IP transport, network segmentation, firewall design, VPN, and Zero Trust.
• Working knowledge of cryptography in networks: TLS, IPsec, PKI and key management.
• Demonstrated ability to work in front of customers at multiple levels.
• Strong grounding in post-quantum cryptography and crypto-agility.
• Strong written communication.

Responsibilities

• Design quantum-safe target architectures and migration paths for customer networks - spanning WAN and transport, data center and campus, segmentation and access control, key management, and the crypto that underpins all of it.
• Lead technical discovery and architecture workshops with network, security, and infrastructure teams.
• Own the technical thread in complex pursuits: architecture proposals, RFI/RFP responses, security and compliance questions, competitive positioning, and objection handling.
• In collaboration with Sales Engineers, design and run proofs of concept, interoperability tests, and pilots including PQC and hybrid key exchange.
• Translate field learning into reusable reference architectures and design guides.
• Serve as the customer's voice in the product process and drive actionable inputs to Product and Engineering.
• Track standards and threat landscape and contribute to NIST PQC and IETF work.
• Partner with Marketing and GTM to build IonQ's technical presence in the community.
• Raise the technical bar through architecture reviews and mentoring.
