Job summary

EPB in Chattanooga seeks a Quantum Systems Engineer II to advance, program, and maintain a cutting-edge quantum communication network. You will lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with vendors to improve scalability, resilience, and security of the quantum infrastructure.

You will engage with internal and external partners, plan data-center integrations, and drive initiatives across complex network systems while meeting high-availability requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 2+ years of hands-on experience with quantum communication systems or QKD.
• Certifications in networking, cybersecurity, or quantum technologies are preferred.
• Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++, and development environments such as Visual Studio.

Responsibilities

• Lead optimization of the quantum network, reducing losses and enhancing control systems.
• Plan and execute integration of new quantum data centers and ensure robust connectivity.
• Guide long-distance interconnections with regional and national quantum networks.
• Demonstrate quantum-enabled cybersecurity capabilities on operational systems with real-time monitoring and data analytics.
• Lead cross-functional teams to deploy and support quantum networking solutions on schedule.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for quantum network issues and incidents.
• Communicate complex concepts clearly to engineers, business leaders, and non-technical stakeholders.
