Job summary

IonQ, Inc. is seeking a Quantum Network Support Engineer in Chattanooga to maintain quantum network hardware and assist deployments both in lab and at customer sites.

The role includes working with fiber optics, detectors, and interferometers, plus direct customer collaboration to translate experiments into network topologies. Travel to customer sites is expected, with the option to remote up to 3 days weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics, optics, engineering or related science.
• Hands-on fiber optic handling, connectors and slack management.
• Familiarity with basic networking concepts (IP, subnets, LAN/WAN).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain quantum network hardware in datacenter racks.
• Assist commissioning of new network deployments at customer sites.
• Characterize performance with OTDRs, meters and detectors.
• Respond to support tickets; trace and resolve network faults.
• Consult on topology design considering loss, polarization and timing.
• Document configurations, data and procedures clearly.
