Job summary

IBM Research in Yorktown Heights seeks a software developer to build integration software for hybrid HPC–Quantum workflows, resource management, and interfaces across classical and quantum backends.

You will design orchestration components, implement scheduling APIs, and collaborate with researchers to align workloads with system capabilities and performance goals. Strong Python and systems language skills are required.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree is required.
• Strong Python proficiency and systems languages experience.
• Ability to bridge research orgs, clients, and vendors.
• Experience releasing software with post‑release maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement workflow orchestration components for hybrid HPC–Quantum systems.
• Develop and maintain resource management, scheduling, and workload APIs across distributed systems.
• Define interfaces between HPC schedulers (Slurm, LSF) and quantum runtimes.
• Develop tools in Python, Rust, and C for interoperability and runtime monitoring.
• Collaborate with system architects, HPC engineers, and quantum teams to align workflows with capabilities.
• Participate in open‑source workflows including docs, testing, design reviews, and releases.
• Contribute to CI/CD and performance instrumentation.
