Job summary

Novax Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a specialist structural steel and engineering business on complex UK projects.

The role covers cost planning, budgets, cash-flow forecasts and final accounts, with close collaboration across Project Managers, Estimators and site teams. You’ll manage commercial risk, variations and contract administration, ensuring profitability across infrastructure, rail and aviation sectors.

Qualifications

• Strong Quantity Surveying or commercial experience.
• Experience within structural steel, engineering or construction.
• Good understanding of construction or engineering contracts.
• Experience managing project costs, budgets and forecasts.
• Strong commercial awareness around variations, valuations and contractual matters.
• Experience with cost planning and cash-flow forecasting.
• Ability to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
• Good communication and negotiation skills.
• The ability to work closely with operational and project teams.
• Experience within structural steel or specialist steel engineering would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial side of projects from initial cost planning through to final account and project close-out.
• Prepare cost plans and project budgets.
• Monitor project costs against budgets.
• Prepare and maintain cash-flow forecasts.
• Manage the commercial performance of allocated projects.
• Monitor project expenditure and identify risks.
• Support contract administration and ensure contractual requirements are met.
• Review and manage variations, valuations and commercial changes.
• Assess the financial impact of changes to project scope.
• Liaise with Estimating, Engineering, Procurement and Site teams.
• Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare commercial reports and contribute to project reviews.
