Job summary

Novax Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Quantity Surveyor with a strong grounding in structural steelwork to join a Newport-based project team.

You’ll own the commercial side of steel packages, from early procurement through final account, keeping margins intact and teams aligned. You’ll monitor budgets, cost reporting, valuations and cash flow; review contracts; handle variations and sub-contractor payments; and negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors, working closely with project

Qualifications

• Experience as a QS or Commercial Surveyor in structural steelwork or related environments.
• Understanding of contracts, valuations and final accounts.
• Experience cost forecasting and commercial reporting.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with project teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the commercial side of structural steel projects from early stages through final account.
• Monitor budgets, costs, cash flow and profitability, flagging issues early.
• Review contract terms and ensure commercial obligations are met.
• Prepare cost-value reconciliations and financial reports for the team.
• Identify variations and value changes, recovering the value of work completed.
• Manage payments, valuations and subcontractor payments to maintain cash flow.
• Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients, main contractors and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, estimators, designers and operations to stay on track.
