Job summary

O'Neill and Brennan seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial activities across a £20m highways framework with project values between £500k and £2m. You'll be based near St Albans, taking responsibility for procurement, subcontracting and final accounts while guiding a project team to successful delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor in main contracting, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Highways/roads/infrastructure project experience is advantageous.
• Experience managing multiple projects and subcontract packages commercially.
• Strong commercial awareness with negotiation and communication skills.
• Experience with valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts.
• Ability to work autonomously within a wider project team.
• Based within a commutable distance of St Albans.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for highways projects £500k–£2m.
• Commercially manage projects from procurement to final account.
• Procure and manage subcontract packages from tender to completion.
• Prepare subcontract enquiries, tender analyses, negotiations and awards.
• Manage subcontractor payments, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs, forecast expenditure and maintain accurate reporting.
• Identify commercial risks and implement cost controls.
• Work with project managers, site teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure delivery.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain.
• Support the wider commercial team across the £20m framework.

Responsibilities

• Taking commercial responsibility for multiple highways projects ranging from £500k - £2m
• Commercially managing projects from procurement through to final account
• Procuring and managing subcontract packages from tender through to completion
• Preparing subcontract enquiries, tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations for award
• Managing subcontractor payments, valuations, variations and final accounts
• Monitoring project costs, forecasting expenditure and maintaining accurate commercial reporting
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate cost control measures

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting, civil engineering or infrastructure environment
• Previous experience working on highways, roads or other infrastructure projects would be advantageous
• Experience commercially managing multiple projects and subcontract packages
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Experience with valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts
• Ability to operate autonomously while working effectively as part of a wider project team
• Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Based within a commutable distance of St Albans
