Job summary

The Joseph Gallagher Group is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to estimate and control costs across projects, ensuring legal and quality standards are met. The role is based at the Rugby office with site visits across the North of England.

You will lead cost reporting, valuations and contract administration, while identifying risks and opportunities to maximise value for our civil engineering projects.

Qualifications

• Relevant Industry Qualification is required.
• Commercially astute with knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
• Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills are essential.
• Experience in construction/engineering with a commercial background and general Civils experience.
• Minimum 5 years QS experience, ideally 2+ years as a Senior QS.

Responsibilities

• Prepare internal commercial reports and other required reports.
• Prepare valuations/applications for payment with contractually compliant documentation.
• Prepare cost reports to clients with supporting docs.
• Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts from requisitions to final accounts.
• Manage contract administration, change management and related registers.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Utilise the costing system.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for estimating and controlling costs for our Project making sure that structures meet legal and quality standards. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved at every stage of a project. You will be based at our office in Rugby and be able to visit various sites within the North of England.

Some of your duties will include:

• Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
• Preparation of valuations/applications for payment with supporting documentation in accordance with the contract.
• Preparation of Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant supporting documentation.
• Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
• Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
• Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change.
• Utilise the costing system.
• Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.

To be successful in this position the Senior Quantity Surveyor must have:

• Relevant Industry Qualification
• Commercially astute with knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement.
• Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint).
• Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
• Experience within a construction/engineering industry and commercial background.
• General Civils experience.
• Have at least 5 years QS experience and ideally a minimum of a 2 years as a SQS.
