Job summary

Boeing is seeking a contract inspector to support precision inspections of machined and assembled components using CMMs and traditional metrology tools. The role requires reading engineering drawings, interpreting GD&T, and documenting results per procedures.

You will work under supervision, ensuring adherence to AS9100 and site quality standards while collaborating with manufacturing to improve process control and reduce discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols (ASME Y14.5).
• Inspect machined, fabricated and assembled components for conformance to drawings and specs.
• Use CMMs and precision tools to measure critical dimensions and assess part quality.
• Document data per quality procedures and report anomalies.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision inspection of machined, fabricated, and assembled components.
• Use height gauges, dial indicators, surface plates, gauge blocks, micrometers, optical comparators, and CMMs to measure dimensions.
• Interpret blueprints, technical specifications, GD&T, and inspection plans.
• Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, tolerances, and workmanship.
• Identify and document defects and communicate findings to QA, REA, and Operations teams.
• Maintain a clean, organized inspection area and comply with site requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to improve process control and reduce discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100 and site/customer quality requirements.

This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full-time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing approved 3rd party for the duration of the specified project.

Gains understanding of the principles for development or improvement of inspection or test techniques. Follows documented procedures to make test coupons for use in test processes. Gains working knowledge of and perform basic setup and calibration of specialized test or measurement equipment. Follows documented procedures to perform basic tests or inspections and collects data for evaluation of process equipment, software, solutions, products or materials. Analyzes routine test, inspection or statistical data to determine product and processes conformity. Elevates anomalous results as required. Gains working knowledge of and performs basic documentation of standard test, analysis or measurement results per documented procedures. Works under close supervision.

Description

• Perform precision inspection of machined, fabricated, and assembled components to verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Use height gauges, dial indicators, surface plates, gauge blocks, micrometers, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to measure critical dimensions and assess part quality.
• Interpret blueprints, technical specifications, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and inspection plans.
• Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, geometric tolerances, and overall workmanship.
• Identify and document defects, deviations, and out-of-tolerance conditions, and communicate findings to Quality Engineering, REA, and Operations teams.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area following site requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams (Machine Shop) to improve process control and reduce machining-related discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100 and site/customer quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience operating Articulated Arm-style Portable CMMs (e.g. FARO arm, Romer Arm, etc.)
• Experience operating and programming bridge-style CMM (e.g. Brown & Sharpe, Hexagon)
• Experience with manual measuring tools (Height Gauges, Dial Indicators, Gauge Pins & Blocks, Micrometers, Calipers, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols (ASME Y14.5)

Pay Rate Range

19 - 22 USD hourly
