Responsible for leading and representing Quality on the plant floor and providing direction to maintain the Quality Assurance systems in place. Aids in managing facility internal audits, compliance with GFSI-customer-regulatory requirements, coaching, teaching, mentoring QA staff, and supporting continuous improvement activities in the plant. Work Hours: 10pm-6am.
Job Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead GFSI initiatives and serve as backup to the QA/Sr.QA Manager for all Food Safety & Quality matters.
- Ensure preparation and compliance of all Quality Systems materials and information used in audits.
- Participate and sometimes lead audits with companies, agencies, and auditors for the site team.
- Perform and maintain risk assessments for new materials entering the facility.
- Execute and lead RCA-CAPAs following corporate and site policies.
- Investigate consumer complaints and monitor corrective action effectiveness.
- Maintain and monitor the Quality Notification (QN) or similar supplier incident system to close out issues.
- Generate, review, and close incident reports related to FSQA.
- Coach, teach, and mentor QA staff to strengthen contingency planning.
- Assist in staffing schedules and provide feedback for QA staff performance reviews.
- Support management of commercialization projects from a quality perspective to ensure specifications are met.
- Advise commercialization and production teams on process specifications, capabilities, and customer requirements, including recipes and sensory aspects.
- Oversee Document & Record Control programs related to FSQA.
- Assist QA Manager and commercialization teams in integrating customer and compliance requirements into internal specifications.
- Participate actively in Hearthside Production System activities (Drumbeat, Weekly KPI, Tiered Auditing, etc.).
- Participate in sensory and product evaluation tests as required.
- Serve as primary Quality liaison during test, proof of concept, and initial production runs.
- Track action items from test runs through to closure.
- Assist in monitoring sanitation activities, including verification of MSS, PEM, non-PEM swabbing, and pre-operational inspections.
- Coordinate QA and Production training related to FSQA requirements and initiatives.
- Participate in off-shift training, performance verification, and plant meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Of
Required Competencies & Knowledge:
- PCQI or HACCP Training Certificate
- Knowledge and experience with SAP preferred
- GFSI certification a plus
- Basic RCA and CAPA tools

Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to production environments including noise, dust, heat, cold, moving machinery, forklifts, and slippery floors.
- Ability to work in hot or cold temperatures depending on the site (Bakery vs. Fresh).
- Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
- Handle daily employee issues.
- Travel up to 10% is possible.

Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of related work experience, including supervising and leading a quality and food safety staff in a food manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- SAP experience.
