At Chromalox, we build advanced thermal technologies for the world's most challenging industrial heating applications.

Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we got our start with an innovative solution 100 years ago when a self-taught engineer invented the first metal-sheathed resistance heating element. It was this then-advanced thermal technology that launched an entire industry.

We excel in industries that have high expectations. We are acknowledged as experts at delivering solutions that exceed specifications, limit risk, and reduce operating costs.

Join us as we continue to provide solutions to our customers and the world!

The Role:

As the Quality Supervisor you will join our Quality team and provide day-to-day leadership and direction to Quality Technicians supporting our manufacturing operations. You will help ensure products and processes consistently meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements while supporting a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and problem solving. Working closely with the Quality Manager and cross-functional partners in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other areas of the business, you will oversee inspection activities, support quality investigations and corrective actions, and help maintain effective quality processes throughout the manufacturing operation.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, training, and day-to-day work direction to Quality Technicians.
  • Coordinate Quality Technician assignments and inspection priorities to support production requirements and customer commitments.
  • Support employee development through ongoing feedback, performance discussions, training, and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure inspection and testing activities are completed accurately and in accordance with established procedures, specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
  • Support the maintenance and execution of the site Quality Management System (QMS) and applicable ISO and ASME quality requirements.
  • Monitor quality performance and analyze inspection, defect, scrap, rework, and other quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead or participate in root cause investigations and corrective and preventive actions related to internal nonconformances, supplier issues, and customer concerns.
  • Partner with Production and Engineering to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing processes, product quality, and reliability.
  • Assist with internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits and support timely completion of resulting corrective actions.
  • Ensure quality records, inspection documentation, procedures, and related documentation are accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
  • Promote a safe, collaborative, and quality-focused work environment through consistent leadership and effective communication.
  • Perform additional quality-related duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, including experience providing leadership, work direction, or supervision to others.
  • Working knowledge of quality inspection methods, manufacturing processes, root cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, technical procedures, and quality documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001 requirements; experience with ASME quality programs is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to collect information, identify trends, establish facts, and make sound decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop employees, manage competing priorities, and maintain accountability in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with appropriate discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
