Job summary

Chromalox, a leader in electrical thermal solutions, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements in our discrete manufacturing environment. You will lead productivity initiatives, design tooling, and deploy lean methods to raise quality and reduce waste.

In this role you will collaborate with quality, planning, and procurement, conduct time studies, maintain labor standards, and support new product introductions with robust process development and training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years in discrete manufacturing (metal forming, machining, assembly).
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ISO standards, and process improvement methods.

Responsibilities

  • Improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead productivity and cost-reduction initiatives, including labor and material savings.
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and automation to support production goals.
  • Support new product introductions with process development, documentation, and training.
  • Conduct time studies and maintain accurate labor standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing projects (e.g., Kaizen, VSM).
  • Troubleshoot and support equipment and process issues on the shop floor.
  • Collaborate with quality, planning, and procurement on materials, specifications, and standards.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with health and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain process documentation: work instructions, SOPs, control plans.
  • Utilize ERP systems (MS Dynamics 365 preferred) for documentation and reporting.
  • Participate in MRB team to resolve quality issues and drive corrective actions.

The Role

The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and improves manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce waste, and optimize quality within a discrete manufacturing environment. This role provides engineering leadership by integrating advanced manufacturing methods, lean practices, and continuous improvement strategies to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years’ experience in discrete manufacturing (metal forming, machining, assembly).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or other 3-D modeling software
  • CNC programming, Welding, Sheet Metal, and/or Machinist background a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and process improvement methods.
  • Experience with ISO standards and quality systems.
  • Skilled in plant layout, workflow optimization, and labor cost analysis.
  • Effective communicator with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel; MS Project a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably MS Dynamics 365).
  • Lean Manufacturing certification is a plus.
