Job summary

The Walsh Group is seeking a Quality Manager I for a federal construction project in Tacoma, WA. You will drive the quality management program from planning to close-out, coaching teams and leading inspections to ensure safety, quality, and profitability.

You will monitor KPIs, manage risk, and collaborate with owners, clients and subcontractors to resolve issues while maintaining strong safety practices and compliant reporting.

Qualifications

• AEC Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience; current certifications required.
• USACE/NAVFAC/NRC Construction Quality Management certification preferred.
• Industry certifications for testing and inspection to certify test/inspection procedures.
• Willingness to travel for projects as necessary.
• Minimum 7 years of AEC experience, with 3 years in a Quality role.
• Strong communication, critical thinking and problem solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Quality champion for a project or multiple projects, responsible for quality duties including quality of the works, material management, documentation and close-out to ensure safe, quality, efficient, effective and profitable project execution.
• Coaches, mentors and trains project staff in quality management principles and project-specific requirements; mentors quality staff to advance careers.
• Lead and manage quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, Quality Incident Reports, Lesson Sharing and follow-up inspections.
• Establishes, monitors and reports on KPIs and QIRs for project teams to ensure continuous improvement; analyzes KPIs and trends.
• Audits project quality programs and provides feedback to Operations and Quality Management on major QIRs and non-conformances.
• Directs inspection, testing and documentation; schedules inspections with operations, consultants, labs and Client.
• Creates and implements project-specific inspection/test plans and quality control plans; reviews concrete mix design and related elements.
• Supports risk management strategies to improve profitability via process management and risk mitigation.
• Maintains relationships with owners, Clients, subcontractors and stakeholders to support project partnering and issue resolution.
• Supports Site Safety to ensure compliance with safety procedures and goals.
• Monitors project quality costs and rework via QIR system to optimize budgets.
