Job summary

GE Aerospace is seeking a Safety Management System professional to develop and maintain the organization’s SMS across avionics manufacturing. You will lead risk mitigation, audits, and reporting to enterprise stakeholders while collaborating with site teams to improve safety performance.

The role requires strong technical writing, QMS auditing, and experience with SMS in avionics environments. A US work authorization and export-control compliance are mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 7+ years in Quality.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing Quality.
  • Role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
  • Must prove status as a U.S. Person: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, or granted asylee/refugee status.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable.
  • Employees may be subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of SMS experience within avionics manufacturing environments.
  • Preferred: Strong computer and technical writing literacy.
  • Preferred: QMS audit experience.
  • Preferred: SMS and/or Product Safety certifications.
  • Preferred: Formal experience and training in Product Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, train, implement, and maintain the organization’s Safety Management System in alignment with the Enterprise SMS team and industry best practices
  • Ensure SMS documentation is accurate, accessible, and maintained
  • Facilitate risk identification, analysis, and mitigation with site Product Safety Action Teams/groups and Product Safety Review Boards
  • Prepare and submit product safety performance reports to Site Leaders, Quality Leaders, Safety Review Boards, and the Enterprise SMS team
  • Monitor site-level compliance with Enterprise SMS policies
  • Conduct product safety audits and inspections
  • Support Product Safety Risk Management within Change Management initiatives
  • Collaborate with site partners to provide SMS and Human Factors training to Avionics employees
  • Promote product safety awareness and continuous improvement
  • Distribute product safety information and drive initiatives to improve safety performance and reduce risks
  • Liaise between site operations and the Enterprise SMS team
  • Collaborate with other GE Aerospace sites to share lessons learned and address systemic issues
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across the GE Aerospace Enterprise to align with SMS objectives
  • Track and analyze product safety performance metrics to identify trends and improvement areas
  • Facilitate independent reviews of investigations and Just Culture
  • Support customer and regulatory audits
  • Implement FLIGHT DECK standards, including daily management, standard work, APPS, and PSRs
  • Use FLIGHT DECK tools to align, harmonize, and modernize SMS approaches within the Avionics QMS/BMS
