Job summary

About the Role

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining quality assurance processes that ensure product integrity, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements across all stages of production. This role leads audits, supports the Quality Management System, partners with cross functional teams to identify quality issues, drives corrective actions, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Days and Hours: Full Time.

Work Eligibility: US Citizenship or US Green Card required. Individuals on OPT or visa sponsorship are not eligible.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System in alignment with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Lead internal AS9100 process and product audits to ensure compliance with procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and regulatory agencies, including the FAA.
  • Support accreditation and certification activities as required by the business.
  • Issue FAA Form 8130-3 and ensure all parts and documentation meet airworthiness, traceability, and regulatory standards prior to certification.
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance programs for precision measurement equipment and manufacturing tools.
  • Develop, review, and approve quality plans, inspection criteria, and process control documentation for hardware and assemblies.
  • Lead root cause investigations for nonconformances using structured methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, and 8D.
  • Manage the Corrective and Preventive Action process to help prevent recurrence of defects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and conduct audits to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
  • Conduct Material Review Board activities to determine disposition of nonconforming materials, including rework, scrap, or use as is decisions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret complex drawings and data.
  • Experience with quality systems and tools such as 8D, FMEA, Minitab, or Net Inspect.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with engineering, production, quality, and regulatory auditors.
  • Digital literacy, including experience with ERP or MRP software, Microsoft Office, and digital QMS platforms for data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Working knowledge of FAA Part 21 or Part 145 regulations.
  • Experience in avionics or aerospace electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience working with regulatory compliance requirements such as REACH, RoHS directives, and restricted substances reporting.
  • Familiarity with FAA repair station Part 145 requirements.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 and experience performing First Article Inspections.
  • Experience working in a combined office and production or manufacturing floor environment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to supplier or customer locations.
