Job summary

Ottenweller Company, Inc. in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a Quality Inspector to document corrective actions, investigate root causes, and ensure nonconforming material is properly reviewed for rework or scrap.

You will train personnel, perform in-process audits, operate inspection equipment, and collaborate across departments to uphold the Quality System Plan and customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or 2–3 years of part inspection experience with knowledge of blueprint reading and use of equipment.
  • Solid background in Quality System procedures is needed.
  • Experience in 8-D corrective actions, root-cause analysis and mistake-proofing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Documents and completes all internal and external requests for Corrective Action as well as all nonconforming materials reports.
  • Investigates and documents root-cause analysis and initiates and completes long-term actions.
  • Controls the non-conforming area to ensure that all non-conforming product is adequately reviewed for possible rework or scrap.
  • Acts as the Element Champion for ISO
  • Generates weekly reports detailing current nonconformances and all external issues.
  • Coordinates problem-solving efforts to ensure that all aspects of any problem are reviewed and acted upon to conform to the quality system plan.
  • Interacts with customers to ascertain problems and complaints with the objective to resolve these problems and complaints using team-oriented problem-solving techniques.
  • Trains workers in the inspection and testing procedures necessary to ensure the quality of the operations being performed.
  • Interacts among all departments to ensure that they know and understand the Quality System Plan.
  • Trains department co-workers in proper root-cause analysis for cross-functional team development. Performs all sampling and part approval inspection necessary to meet customer requirements.

A solid background in Quality System procedures is needed, along with experience in 8-d corrective actions, root-cause analysis and mistake-proofing is preferred
