Job summary

Ottenweller Company Inc. in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to support production by ensuring parts meet customer requirements through in-process testing and documentation.

You will perform root-cause analysis, manage nonconformances, train staff, and collaborate across departments to uphold the Quality System Plan, including calibration of CMM and Romer equipment. This is a non-management, full-time role emphasizing accuracy and ISO adherence.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma.
• Two to three years part inspection experience helpful.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading and inspection procedures.
• Solid background in Quality System procedures and corrective actions (8D).

Responsibilities

• Own corrective actions and nonconformance reports.
• Lead root-cause investigations and long-term actions.
• Control non-conforming material to prevent use in production.
• Generate weekly reports on current nonconformances.
• Train staff in inspection and testing procedures.
• Perform in-process audits and calibrate equipment (CMM, Romer).
• Collaborate across departments to follow the Quality System Plan.

Job description

• Documents and completes all internal and external requests for Corrective Action as well as all nonconforming materials reports.
• Investigates and documents root-cause analysis and initiates and completes long-term actions.
• Controls the non-conforming area to ensure that all non-conforming product is adequately reviewed for possible rework or scrap. Ensures no product is allowed to continue in the production process unless adequately tested to meet all customer requirements.
• Acts as the Element Champion for ISO
• Generates weekly reports detailing current nonconformances and all external issues.
• Coordinates problem-solving efforts to ensure that all aspects of any problem are reviewed and acted upon to conform to the quality system plan.
• Interacts with customers to ascertain problems and complaints with the objective to resolve these problems and complaints using team-oriented problem-solving techniques.
• Trains workers in the inspection and testing procedures necessary to ensure the quality of the operations being performed.
• Interacts among all departments to ensure that they know and understand the Quality System Plan.
• Trains department co-workers in proper root-cause analysis for cross-functional team development. Performs all sampling and part approval inspection necessary to meet customer requirements.

Performs In-Process audits and inspection to ensure parts are being correctly produced and proper procedures are followed by Production.
Performs calibration and properly operates equipment such as CMM, Romer, etc.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years part inspection experience with knowledge of blueprint reading and use of equipment. A solid background in Quality System procedures is needed, along with experience in 8-d corrective actions, root-cause analysis and mistake-proofing is preferred
