Job summary

Ottenweller Company, Inc. is seeking a full-time Quality Inspector to visually inspect and measure parts before receiving them into inventory. You will create electronic records, interpret drawings and specifications, and maintain measurement tools.

Your work will support proper documentation and compliance with quality standards. Responsibilities include checking dimensions, using calipers and gauges, inspecting esthetic characteristics, and auditing inventory for accuracy.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1 year inspection/manufacturing experience with blueprint reading.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Check dimensions using drawings or inspection plan as guide.
  • Use digital calipers, protractors, and gauges to verify characteristics.
  • Inspect incoming parts and in-process parts when needed.
  • Audit components in inventory for condition and counts.
  • Approve or reject parts and document outcomes.
  • Enter data in computer systems to track parts.

Job description

Visually inspects and/or measures a pre-determined sampling of parts prior to receiving them into inventory and creates an electronic record of inspection activities. Parts may be evaluated for adherence to dimensional and/or esthetic requirements. The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications is required. Must be able to properly use and maintain basic measurement tools. Deliveries may include supporting paperwork which must be documented and retained. Basic computer skills are required.

Duties

Visually inspects and/or measures a pre-determined sampling of parts prior to receiving them into inventory and creates an electronic record of inspection activities. Parts may be evaluated for adherence to dimensional and/or esthetic requirements. The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications is required. Must be able to properly use and maintain basic measurement tools. Deliveries may include supporting paperwork which must be documented and retained. Basic computer skills are required.

  • Check dimensions using the engineered drawing or an inspection plan as a guide.
  • Use basic measurement tools (digital calipers, protractors, digital film thickness gauges, etc.) to verify dimensional characteristics.
  • Analyze esthetic characteristics visually; either in comparison to a physical standard or to a description in a specification.
  • Inspect incoming parts/material (and in-process parts when necessary).
  • Check-in, quarantine, and alert all interested parties of rejected parts returned by customers. Assist Quality Team in analysis
  • Maintain an assortment of measurement tools that are dedicated to the incoming inspection area/process.
  • Audit purchased components in inventory for condition, count accuracy and contamination.
  • Approve or reject parts. Tag approved parts for receiving. Tag rejected parts and place them in non-conforming cage. Notify supervision of non-conformity.
  • Operate computer to track parts and enter data.
Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year inspection and/or manufacturing experience with knowledge of blueprint reading. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply these skills to problem-solving situations. Basic computer skills. The employee will need to be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at varying intervals throughout the work day.
