Job summary

Tate & Lyle is seeking a Quality Lab Tech I to perform chemical and identification testing on diverse samples in a QC lab. The role emphasizes accurate reporting, safety, and strong communication to support timely product turns.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance of lab equipment, data integrity, and collaboration with supervisors to drive performance improvements. A chemistry-related degree and lab experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field, and/or an Associate’s degree and a minimum of four college level courses in science with extensive lab experience.
• Two (2) years or more of laboratory work experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate (written, verbal, presentation skills) at multiple levels.
• Proven experience in creating a culture of accountability and a high-performance culture.
• Demonstrated team building, leadership, employee development and conflict resolution skills.
• Continuous improvement experience.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute effectively.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
• Experience with LIMS systems and data entry.
• Experience with ICP-OES, GC, GCMS, Viscometers, Spectroscopy and LECO preferred.
• Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership in driving a high personal safety culture.
• Knowledge of ISO systems and certifications.
• CCPA

Responsibilities

• Create a culture of Safety and Teamwork.
• Continuous improvement initiatives and action plans.
• Facilitate problem solving and address performance issues to meet KPIs.
• Perform safe lab practices with PPE, solution make-up, storage and spill cleanup.
• Maintain calibration records and routine maintenance of testing equipment.
• Complete all testing for the day and keep accurate logs and electronic records.
• Rotate in raw material testing to support production release.
• Handle special testing requests for process improvement or customer issues.
• Collaborate with peers and supervisor to improve efficiency and problem solve.
• Perform data reviews, quality inspections, inventory checks, and document updates.
• Maintain clean workspace and lab, prep for audits.
• Assist auditors and locate documents during audits.
• Ensure data integrity and timely, accurate results for quick product turnarounds.
