Flowserve Charlotte repairs/supplies pump-related components to the Nuclear Industry in accordance with our Quality Assurance Program.

Job Summary:

The Quality Inspector works with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Customers, and Plant Management to ensure all products released from the Service Center meet or exceed Engineering and Quality Assurance requirements. You will serve as the primary Certified Level II Non-Destructive Examiner in the Charlotte Nuclear Service Center and the Memphis Hot Shop [VT, PT, MT, UT]. Additionally, perform documented mechanical inspections to verify conformance of components to drawings, procedures, specifications, and all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for the inspection plan content and project quality plan according to customer and Flowserve specifications, completing and controlling all project QC documents throughout manufacturing. Reports directly to the Facility Quality Manager. Requirements are in accordance with NQA-1, 10CFR50 App B, 10CFR21, and ASME Section III [NPT and NR accreditations].

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm, with occasional weekend work.

Location: Charlotte, NC, with 25-50% travel to Memphis, TN.

Responsibilities:

  • Qualify, perform, and maintain certifications as a Non-Destructive Examinations Level II Inspector per SNT-TC-1A and Nuclear Quality Assurance Program requirements [VT, PT, UT, MT].
  • Qualify, perform, and maintain certifications as a Level II Mechanical Inspector per ASME/ANSI N45.2.6, NQA-1, and Nuclear Quality Program requirements.
  • Complete and document inspection results on reports using manual instruments, drawings, and procedures.
  • Document non-conforming materials following approved procedures.
  • Review supplier certifications during receiving inspections and dedication processes.
  • Review manufacturing and testing documents as required.
  • Identify materials and components to maintain traceability.
  • Support facility goals like on-time performance and first-time quality.
  • Maintain growth and responsibility in Quality Control.
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.

Requirements:

  • HS Diploma/GED and at least 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Current SNT-TC-1A NDE Level II certifications [PT, VT, UT, MT].
  • Knowledge of welding, machining, and quality systems.
  • Understanding of relevant quality standards and regulations.
  • Flexible, eager to learn, accurate, analytical, positive attitude.
  • Willingness to travel (minimum 25%).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to Operational Excellence and high customer service standards.
  • Must be a US person.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's or technical degree.
  • Expertise in inspection equipment used in machining, assembly, and testing.
  • Familiarity with pumps.
  • Experience inspecting castings.
  • Experience in a nuclear environment.
