Job summary

Bonnell Aluminum, a leading North American aluminum extrusions manufacturer, is seeking a Quality Inspector to ensure incoming, in-process, and finished materials meet strict specifications. The role involves test procedures, data logging, and collaboration with the production team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include performing mechanical pull tests, maintaining QA tools, coordinating with supervision, and upholding safety policies while handling up to 50 pounds and standing

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Read and understand inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, comparator).
  • Pass a skills-based test.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
  • Detail-oriented with conscientious work habits.
  • Ability to work safely and wear PPE at all times.
  • Pass background check and drug screen.

  • Performs mechanical pull tests and coordinates optical comparator operation.
  • Documents inspection results and maintains quality databases.
  • Participates in safety and cleanliness of the workstation.

Job description

SHIFT DAYS /HOURS: 8 hr. shifts (Mon-Fri) 7:00 AM- 3:00 PM) Must be willing and able to work Mandatory OT on off days as necessary.

STARTING PAY: $21.17 per hour.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process (Fabrication) production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs
  • Maintain files in the Quality Assurance Department
  • Performs Mechanical Pull tests. Understand and coordinate operation of optical comparator
  • Maintains Die and Fabrication Print files within the quality office
  • Performs hardness & length measurement checks per SOI 82-05-01
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Any additional quality-related information that may be required in the performance of inspection. Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Assist other personnel and perform other duties as required per supervisor.
  • Inform the Supervisor of any equipment problems or any other problems.
  • Work in a safe manner always wearing all required Proper Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, clutter-free workstation.
  • Able to participate in a collaborative environment.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures.
  • Accepts feedback from the Team Leader to ensure the bundles meet safety standards.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

  • Perform Mechanical (Pull) tests on the Tensile Machine and report findings to the Customer when requested.
  • Maintain all Quality Assurance tools.
  • Verify that all inspection tools are calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Perform Quality Audits for receiving in-process and outgoing material.
  • Review Inspection Reports to ensure the accuracy of information.
  • Understand and coordinate the operation of the optical comparator.
  • Assist the Extrusion Department in quality inspections when required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and always without air conditioning.

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Must also pass a skills-based test.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively; self-motivated; self-starter.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be conscientious, diplomatic, and detail-oriented.
  • Must pass a company background check and drug screen.
