JOB TITLE: Extrusion Operator
REPORTS TO: Shift Facilitator with direction from the Team Captain
SHIFT DAYS / HOURS: 2nd Shift Position Monday to Friday (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) (40+ hours). Saturday scheduled as needed. Training will be on 1st shift Monday to Thursday (7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Friday and Saturday scheduled as needed.
STARTING PAY: $20.35 per hour with ability to earn up to $29.18 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Loading and starting Age Ovens
- Unloading Age Ovens
- Operating an Overhead Crane
- Monitoring and removing press scrap
- Staging racks
- Loading metal and spacers
- Performing the stretching operation: inputting stretcher parameters, initiating Auto‑stretch, and visually monitoring parts for over‑stretch or under‑stretch conditions
- Operating the saw crew equipment
- Reading and interpreting tape measures and shop orders
- Assisting other personnel and performing other duties as directed by the supervisor
- Informing the supervisor of equipment problems or other issues
- Working safely at all times while wearing required PPE
- Maintaining a clean, clutter‑free workstation
- Participating in a collaborative environment
- Complying with safety policies and procedures
- Accepting feedback from the Team Captain to ensure bundles meet safety standards
- Completing special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Pass a skills‑based test
- Read and understand shop orders, tape measures, and safety rules
- Operate an overhead crane and drive a Combi/Forklift
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Strong interpersonal skills, self‑motivated, and self‑starter
- Interpret and follow written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions
- Solve practical problems and manage variable conditions
- Conscientious, diplomatic, and detail‑oriented
- Pass a company background check and drug screen
Work Environment / Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with arms
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Require close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, as well as ability to adjust focus
- Work near moving mechanical parts
- Noise level usually loud and without air conditioning
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to read and understand a tape measure
- Must have a strong safety awareness and the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment
