Job summary

Valley Forge & Bolt Mfg in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Quality Control Inspector with 1-2+ years of experience to inspect incoming shipments, in-process production, and final QC at shipping. The role covers 2nd shift and requires reading blueprints, maintaining inspection records, and performing hardness verification.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 1-2+ years of experience in a quality control role.
  • UT or Mag Particle Level I or Level II ((a +++++)).
  • Attention to detail and precision a must.
  • Regular attendance is required. M-F (5:00-1:30pm DAY SHIFT or 1:30pm to 10:00pm NIGHT SHIFT) but must be flexible.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) experience, an extreme plus.
  • Basic reading and writing (English language) and basic math ability.
  • Familiar with use of most hand measuring tools. (Calipers, Micrometers, Pitch Mic's,etc.)
  • Familiar with the use of inspection tools & equipment
  • Requires limited use of judgment with well-defined procedures.
  • Shall have basic computer knowledge (Microsoft & Company Server)
  • Must be able to work well with team and other departments and how to prioritize duties. Must be a self-starter
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures and industry standards

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming vendor shipments, external services, and materials.
  • Inspect on the production floor and provide 2nd shift coverage.
  • Inspect in-process production across all departments.
  • Inspect incoming purchased materials (steel, nuts, bolts, washers, etc.).
  • Perform final inspection and QC at shipping.
  • Work from blueprints or customer requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports and records.
  • Calibrate tools and maintain calibration records (monthly).
  • Perform hardness verification as required.
  • Conduct daily audits of all departments.
  • Possess overtime flexibility when needed.
  • Fill out Quality Alerts with required information.
  • Expand knowledge of manufacturing practices.

Job description

1st & 2nd Shift Flexibility a +++
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Inspect incoming vendor shipment external services
  • Inspection floor / lab coverage and overflow - for 2nd shift.
  • Inspects in-process production of all departments
  • Inspects incoming purchased materials (Steel, Nuts, Washers, Bolts, etc.)
  • Final inspection and QC Simple at shipping.
  • Working from blueprints, or specific customer requirements.
  • Prepares and maintains inspection reports and records.
  • Calibration tool inspection and record keeping (monthly).
  • Must be able to prepare & perform hardness verification.
  • Must conduct audits daily of all departments.
  • Shall be able to work overtime (if required and approved)
  • Shall fill out Quality Alerts when issues are found with required information.
  • Increase knowledge in all manufacturing practices.

Work Environment
  • Primary work environment is the office and the production floor.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) through the entire shift.
  • Ability to be aware of surroundings for safety concerns.
  • While performing duties of this job the employee will be required to frequently stand on their feet for extended periods of time. Occasion stooping and walking will be required.
  • Employee maybe required to lead production shop tours.
  • Employee will have meetings in the shop requiring the wearing of personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to assist a machine operator to understand process flow.
  • Ability to be aware of surroundings for safety concerns.
  • Able to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
  • Able to sit for prolonged time periods plus occasion walking to stooping.
