Job summary

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is seeking a detail-oriented team member for 1st shift in Lafayette, IN. You will inspect vehicles, document non-conformities, verify VINs, and communicate findings to leads. Safety procedures and clean work areas are required.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and self-motivation.
• Ability to learn accessory, distribution, rail, and body shop processes quickly.
• Understand customer requirements about vehicle condition prior to shipment.
• Follow work procedures and supervisor directions.

Responsibilities

• Document non-conformities and coach installers as needed.
• Communicate with Lead and Supervisor to prevent issues and coordinate repairs.
• Use a mobile scanner and verify VINs against bar codes and window stickers.
• Report quality problems to management promptly.
• Prevent vehicle damage by following safety procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas.
• Stand/walk up to 8 miles daily during shift.
• Assist with parking inspected vehicles for distribution.
• Attend QC meetings outside regular shift time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Ensure documentation of non-conformities and communicates issues and coach installer as necessary.
• Regularly communicate with Lead and Supervisor to prevent non-conformities and coordinate repairs.
• Use mobile scanner and verifies vehicle identification numbers (VIN) against vehicle bar codes and window stickers to ensure assigned work is completed on the correct automobile.
• Efficiently and accurately report quality problems to management.
• Prevent vehicle damage by following safety procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas.
• Standing and walking most of shift up to 8 miles daily.
• Park inspected vehicles outdoors for distribution through the lot.
• Attend mandatory QC meetings outside of normal scheduled shift time.
• Work in all weather conditions all year round.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• Complete understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, accessory, distribution, rail, and body shop processes.
• Ability to identify quality problems associated with vehicle and lead effort to construct and implement effective countermeasures to problems.
• Complete understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, customer requirements concerning vehicle condition prior to shipment.
• Ability to carry out specified work procedures and directions of supervisors or leads
