Job summary

HGC Industries is seeking a Final Inspector to perform the last quality checks on gasket and stamping parts before shipping to customers. You will measure with calipers and micrometers, read engineering drawings, and ensure all parts meet quality standards.

Responsibilities include rejecting non-conforming parts, guiding re-inspection, and assisting with packing according to customer and HGC guidelines. This role supports a fast-paced manufacturing environment and family-like collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years QA/inspection experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineer drawings.
  • Ability to use quality gauges and inspection machines accurately.
  • Strong data entry, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Perform final quality checks on Hoosier Gasket products before shipment.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and Mylar overlays to measure parts.
  • Read engineering drawings to verify conformance.
  • Reject non-conforming parts and route back for re-inspection.

This role supports the mission and Core Values of HGC Industries by performing the final quality checks before HGC products ship to the customer. The Final Inspector inspects and measures parts during the final audit/inspection to verify that they meet quality standards. After parts pass inspection, assist in preparing parts for shipping following customer and HGC guidelines. In instances where parts do not meet quality standards, troubleshoot the parts and reject them back to production for re-inspection.HGC Industries is a worldwide leader in designing and manufacturing gaskets, sealing surfaces, and stamping. This includes the following:CalipersMicrometersMylar overlaysDemonstrate a strong ability to read and interpret engineer drawings.Records quality data accurately on forms/documents, as required.Reject parts that do not meet quality criteria and send them back for re-inspection.Assists in preparing parts that passed final inspection for shipment, following customer and HGC guidelines.Assist with other QA duties when needed.May be asked to perform other duties at a lower level or higher level of proficiency.Follows safety rules and guidelines at all times.Foster strong relationships across departments and team members to promote collaboration, support peer development, and drive organizational growth.Regular, reliable attendance.Flexible work schedule.Helping mentor new employees as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and percentagesAbility to learn to use quality gauges and inspection machinesData entry skillsStrong interpersonal and customer service skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent time management skills and ability to efficiently manage priorities and tasks based on importanceExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAdaptability skills to effectively manage demands, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected eventsAbility to work self-sufficiently to ensure accuracy and quality of tasksAbility to navigate and resolve internal or external situations effectively and resourcefullyAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, co-workers, and HGC Industries stakeholdersAbility to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor their work to ensure qualityAbility to read blueprints and identify non-conforming products.Ability to effectively manage both emotional and social intelligenceA strong willingness to learn new processes and procedures will help the individual be successful at HGCAbility to follow HGC safety and security guidelines when operating and using company equipment and materialsQUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma/GEDMinimum of 2 years of previous QA and inspection experience in a manufacturing setting is a plus.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Sitting for long periods - 5-10 hours per dayStanding for long periods - 5-10 hours per dayWalking for long periods - 1-5 hours per dayStoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl – OccasionallyPush, pull, twist, reach, & engage in rapid reflex movementsOccasionally lift and carry objects (30 lbs. maximum)Occasionally climb/use a ladderENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Fast-paced, deadline-oriented manufacturing plant and office. The person will be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, and other airborne particles. They will use heavy machinery and/or hand or power tools. Will work with or near dry ice, CO2 gas, and/or silicone. Wear protective clothing/equipment.
