Job summary

Gunderson Marine in Portland, OR, seeks a Quality Supervisor to lead a quality team and administer corporate and quality policies. You will direct workers, interpret policies, and ensure production and regulatory compliance across assigned categories.

The role requires 2 years in a quality department and 1+ year in a leadership position, with strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and English fluency. NDT MT/UT Level II and CWI certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2 years minimum experience in a quality department.
  • 1 year+ of progressive leadership experience in quality.
  • Must possess conversational English-speaking ability.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all employees to perform work within assigned categories.
  • Interpret quality policies and enforce standards and regulations.
  • Interpret specifications and blueprints to workers and assign duties accordingly.
  • Establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods and product quality.
  • Communicate expectations to employees to ensure understanding of responsibilities.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in resolving problems.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals.
  • Communicate deficiencies for correction and ensure timely remediation.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Accurate and timely reporting of hours worked and charges to jobs.
  • Administer disciplinary actions by monitoring safety, attendance, quality of work and productivity.
  • Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with company, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand and interpret the Gunderson QA manual.

SUMMARY

To assist the management team with communication, supervision and administration of corporate and quality policies within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Direct all employees who are assigned to him/her to perform all work within assigned categories
  • Interpret quality policies to assigned workers and enforce quality standards and regulations
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assign duties accordingly
  • Establish and/or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods and quality of product, and suggest changes accordingly
  • Communicate expectations to employees as to make certain they understand responsibilities
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in resolving problems
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
  • Communicate deficiencies (i.e. areas needing attention) for correction
  • Conduct performance evaluations
  • Accurate and timely reporting of hours worked for each employee he/she has responsibility for; hours charged appropriately to the various jobs
  • Administer disciplinary actions consistently by monitoring safety performance, attendance, quality of work and productivity
  • Monitor workmanship making certain that products are manufactured in accordance with applicable company, customer and regulatory requirements
  • Understand and intrepret the Gunderson QA manual
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic computer skills

    Experience and Education
    • 2 years minimum experience in a quality department
    • 1 year+ of progressive experience in a leadership role within a quality department
    License or Certificate
    • CWI Certification
    • NDT Level II Certification in MT and/or UT
