Job summary

gpac seeks a seasoned Quality Manager to oversee the Quality and Inspection Departments. You will ensure the Quality Management System directs vendor processes to meet customer, industry, and regulatory requirements, while guiding continuous improvement and audits across the organization.

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you will drive corrective actions, document control, and quality assurance activities, supporting growth and compliance in manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, ASQ certification, or equivalent experience in quality practices related to manufacturing and reliability.
  • 8-10 years' managerial or supervisory experience with knowledge of continuous improvement systems (ISO 9001:2015).
  • Computer literate with ability to develop reports and spreadsheets as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Leads Quality and Inspection Departments to ensure QMS directs processes that meet customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops and implements production, quality, and service standards; conducts audits and analyzes data for improvements.
  • Maintains and improves product quality through audits, root-cause analyses, and collaborations with management.
  • Prepares quality documentation and reports, tracking trends, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
  • Stay current with trends in quality management and participate in professional development.
  • Sets supplier material and process specifications and monitors supplier compliance.

Examples Of Duties And Responsibilities

Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews, preparing and completing action plans, implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, identifying and resolving problems, completing audits, determining system improvements, and implementing change;

  • Meets quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements, preparing an annual budget, and scheduling expenditures;
  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes, measuring production, documenting evidence, determining operational and performance qualification, writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits, investigating customer complaints, collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and following manufacturing and training methods;
  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations;
  • Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management;
  • Participates in educational opportunities, reads professional publications, maintains personal networks, and participates in professional organization/s;
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests;
  • Explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments;
  • Continues the education of the inspection group, as well as investigating and implementing more effective and efficient measuring equipment;
  • Understands customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes that are appropriate to each product type;
  • Sets requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance;
  • Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.
Qualifications Guidelines

Bachelor's Degree, ASQ certification, or equivalent experience in all areas of quality practices related to manufacturing, including metallurgy, reliability, statistical process control, inspection techniques, and contract interpretation. 8-10 years' experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity with knowledge of continuous improvement systems (ISO 9001:2015, etc.). Computer literate, with ability to develop reports and spreadsheets as needed.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Possesses broad knowledge of foundry, machine shop, assembly, and inspection practices and techniques;
  • Ability to plan, administer, and evaluate operations with solid project management and leadership skills;
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to analyze quality control needs, goals and standards in the context of production and operational requirements;
  • Possesses application knowledge of common manufacturing specifications, including commercial, military, and aerospace standards; and
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities, including the development, growth, and management of teams.
