Job description

The Quality Assurance Supervisor performs quality inspections throughout the production process and actively leads the quality management system.

  • Identify, develop and document procedures, processes, standards and quality control objectives to comply with ISO standards and minimize non-conformities, deviations and customer or vendor returns.
  • Determine inspection frequency and equipment needs.
  • Set-up first article inspection on new parts, as required.
  • Review and coordinate or conduct (as necessary) equipment calibration, validation and maintenance.
  • Conduct and oversee detailed inspections of components and completed assemblies at various phases of production and throughout the manufacturing process, including raw material, first article, first piece and in-process inspection.
  • Program and operate CMM (PC DMIS).
  • Investigate and resolve or recommend resolution for customer issues related to quality.
  • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs.
  • Prepare and maintain quality records and reports.
  • Perform other tasks as warranted or assigned by management.

This position has supervisory responsibility for the Quality Technician positions.

The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions with protection from weather conditions with moderate temperature fluctuation. The employee may be exposed to hazards such as proximity to moving parts which require adherence to safety procedures and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.

The employee is required to have visual acuity to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. The employee will be occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with their arms. This position requires regular sitting, hand and finger dexterity, wrist rotation or extension, and grasping. The position may require minimal squatting/kneeling, forward bending, twisting/turning, pushing/pulling, neck rotation or extension, forearm rotation and pinching. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

  • Two-year vocational degree and/or certified quality training.
  • Ability to read part prints or drawings and machining work orders, including GD&T.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, geometry & trigonometry to practical situations.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers characterized by honest, professional, respectful communication (verbally & in writing) and effective listening skills.
  • Fluency in English verbal and written communication.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word, and Gage InSite or similar software.
  • Experience in precision inspection and quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience using quality inspection equipment (i.e., calipers, micrometers, bore gages, height gages, etc.)
  • Familiarity with ISO standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Organization and records management skills.
  • Self-starter with strong leadership skills and ability to work well with others.
  • High level of dependability.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Two or more years of applicable post-secondary education.
  • Supervisory experience within quality or manufacturing industry.
  • Background or experience in metal machining.
  • Familiarity with PPAP, CAPA and deviation procedures and processes.
  • Skills and experience in problem solving using root cause analysis.
