Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
Salary: $65,000 – $80,000 (commensurate with experience)
Overview:
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional with a background in metal fabrication and team leadership. This role provides technical direction and leadership in support of the Management System and Quality Control processes. As a key team member, you'll serve as a practitioner, trainer, and leader, driving quality improvement initiatives and supporting Lean implementation across the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and ensure compliance with quality-related contract requirements.
- Review design and manufacturing/test documentation; develop inspection plans.
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives using established tools and methodologies.
- Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP); prepare related documentation and testing data.
- Train production staff on standardized processes and inspection techniques.
- Assess process risk and recommend improvement actions to enhance robustness.
- Lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis and corrective action for product/process non-conformances.
- Implement product containment strategies to protect the customer from non-conforming products.
- Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System; conduct and lead internal audits.
- Create and revise quality documentation, including Control Plans, PFMEAs, and Inspection Plans.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and certification bodies (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
- Monitor and report on key quality metrics (e.g., defects, on-time delivery, KPIs).
- Supervise and provide direction to Quality Control Technicians.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by senior management.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in metal fabrication and team leadership within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in using and programming CMMs and standard measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, including supervisory or team leadership responsibilities.
- Hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance systems such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
- Capable of performing all Quality Control Technician functions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable interacting with personnel at all levels and with customers.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T documentation.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move throughout the facility and access all areas as needed for process verification and inspection.
- Position may require periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field ; equivalent experience and industry certifications will also be considered.
