Job summary

Insitu in the United States (hybrid work option) seeks an Experienced Quality Engineer to support the supply chain and engineering teams with material flow and quality across parts and assemblies.

You will lead MRB, RCCA, and supplier audits, review drawings, and ensure FAIRs per AS9102 while mentoring Quality Technicians. The role requires ~10% travel nationwide.

Qualifications

• Technical bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years related work experience.
• Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience.
• Experience in aerospace or defense supply chains is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Manage inspection criteria for parts and assemblies.
• Lead MRB meetings and disposition of nonconforming material.
• Lead RCCA activity and implement closed-loop solutions.

Job description

We are looking for an Experienced Quality Engineer to:

• Seek innovative solutions to a variety of technical problems
• Support Suppliers and Production with the flow of material through quality processes
• Support Engineering by providing a quality perspective in technical discussions and decisions
• Work with our partners in the supply chain to promote closed loop solutions and efficient material flow

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain inspection, rejection, and measurement criteria for a variety of parts
• Lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings that seek material dispositions for nonconforming material
• Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activity for a variety of technical issues and seek closed loop solutions
• Integrate with collaborative technical teams to solve a variety of problems
• Collect and analyze datasets to inform decision making around inspection criteria, nonconforming material, etc
• Ensure high quality deliverables from the Supply Chain by performing supplier audits, support new supplier source selection and onboarding, monitoring supplier performance data, participating in Supplier Performance Reviews, and if necessary issuing supplier corrective action requests.
• Review engineering designs and manufacturing work instructions and provide technical feedback
• Generate, review, and manage First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102 requirements
• Establish and maintain collaborative and positive working relationships with suppliers.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Quality Technicians and less experienced Quality Engineers
• Support inspection activities when needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications; particularly for cables and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs)
• Problem solving and analytical skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and present persuasive solutions
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; works effectively and cooperatively with others and establishes and maintains good working relationships
• Technical aptitude for learning new computer applications and for working in a highly technical environment
• Communicate effectively in person and via written forms, particularly when discussing technical details.
• Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) for IPC/WHMA-A-620 & IPC-A-610 standards
• Knowledge and understanding of AS9100/ISO 9001
• Able and willing to travel across the country to engage with and/or audit suppliers (~10%)

Preferred

• Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) for IPC/WHMA-A-620 & IPC-A-610 standards
• AS9100D Lead Auditor Certification from a sanctioned International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG)
• Knowledge in Quality tools (APQP, FMEA, SPC, GR&R), AS9100D, ISO9001, Military Standards
• Experience with process development, implementation, and documentation
• Experience with Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) techniques

Education & Experience Required

Technical bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years related work experience, a Master’s degree with 3 or more years, or comparable mix of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in mathematics, sciences or technologies.

Preferred: 4 or more years of experience in a Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, or a similar supply chain focused technical role. Education or experience in electrical engineering, design, build, test, etc.

In-Office Requirement Statement

This position is eligible for hybrid work. It is our strong preference that this position is on-site 1-3 days weekly; and therefore, needs to be within commutable distance from Bingen, WA.

Please note that the salary information show below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications and work location. Typical Hiring Range: 90,500.00 - 124,300.00
