Job summary

Boeing Insitu is seeking an Experienced Quality Engineer to drive inspection criteria, MRB leadership, RCCA actions, and supplier collaboration across the supply chain. The role emphasizes AS9102 FAIRs, AS9100/ISO 9001 familiarity, and cross-functional teamwork.

You will interface with suppliers and internal engineering to ensure high quality deliverables, with a hybrid on-site requirement near Bingen, WA. A technical bachelor's or master’s degree with relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, particularly for cables and PCBAs.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills: define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and present persuasive solutions.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; works effectively with others and maintains good working relationships.
  • Technical aptitude for learning new computer applications and for working in a highly technical environment.
  • Effective communication in person and in writing, especially for technical details.
  • Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) for IPC/WHMA-A-620 & IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AS9100/ISO 9001.
  • Willingness to travel across the country to engage with/audit suppliers (≈10%).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain inspection, rejection, and measurement criteria for a variety of parts.
  • Lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings for nonconforming material dispositions.
  • Lead RCCA activity for technical issues and seek closed-loop solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to solve problems.
  • Collect and analyze datasets to inform decisions on inspection criteria and nonconforming material.
  • Ensure high quality deliverables from the Supply Chain by supplier audits and performance monitoring.
  • Review engineering designs and provide technical feedback on manufacturing instructions.
  • Generate, review, and manage First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Quality Technicians and other Quality Engineers.
  • Support inspection activities when needed.

We are looking for an Experienced Quality Engineer to:
  • Seek innovative solutions to a variety of technical problems
  • Support Suppliers and Production with the flow of material through quality processes
  • Support Engineering by providing a quality perspective in technical discussions and decisions
  • Work with our partners in the supply chain to promote closed loop solutions and efficient material flow
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain inspection, rejection, and measurement criteria for a variety of parts
  • Lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings that seek material dispositions for nonconforming material
  • Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activity for a variety of technical issues and seek closed loop solutions
  • Integrate with collaborative technical teams to solve a variety of problems
  • Collect and analyze datasets to inform decision making around inspection criteria, nonconforming material, etc
  • Ensure high quality deliverables from the Supply Chain by performing supplier audits, support new supplier source selection and onboarding, monitoring supplier performance data, participating in Supplier Performance Reviews, and if necessary issuing supplier corrective action requests.
  • Review engineering designs and manufacturing work instructions and provide technical feedback
  • Generate, review, and manage First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102 requirements
  • Establish and maintain collaborative and positive working relationships with suppliers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Quality Technicians and less experienced Quality Engineers
  • Support inspection activities when needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications; particularly for cables and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs)
  • Problem solving and analytical skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and present persuasive solutions
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; works effectively and cooperatively with others and establishes and maintains good working relationships
  • Technical aptitude for learning new computer applications and for working in a highly technical environment
  • Communicate effectively in person and via written forms, particularly when discussing technical details.
  • Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) for IPC/WHMA-A-620 & IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AS9100/ISO 9001
  • Able and willing to travel across the country to engage with and/or audit suppliers (:10%)
Preferred
  • Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) for IPC/WHMA-A-620 & IPC-A-610 standards
  • AS9100D Lead Auditor Certification from a sanctioned International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG)
  • Knowledge in Quality tools (APQP, FMEA, SPC, GR&R), AS9100D, ISO9001, Military Standards
  • Experience with process development, implementation, and documentation
  • Experience with Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) techniques
Education & Experience
Required
  • Technical bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years related work experience, a Master’s degree with 3 or more years, or comparable mix of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in mathematics, sciences or technologies.
Preferred
  • 4 or more years of experience in a Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, or a similar supply chain focused technical role.
  • Education or experience in electrical engineering, design, build, test, etc.
In-Office Requirement Statement

This position is eligible for hybrid work. It is our strong preference that this position is on-site 1-3 days weekly; and therefore, needs to be within commutable distance from Bingen, WA.

Typical Hiring Range: 90,500.00 - 124,300.00
