United Launch Alliance invites college students to a summer engineering internship focused on flight hardware analysis, systems engineering, quality assurance and launch operations. You will work with experienced engineers, shadow day-to-day activities, and contribute to real-world projects tied to upcoming launches.

Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, be enrolled for Fall 2027, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be able to commit at least 10 weeks.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum college GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must have a valid driver's license and motorized vehicle transportation if assigned an internship in Alabama; California; Florida; or Pueblo, Colorado.
  • For Denver, Colorado and Washington, DC, motorized transportation is recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing flight hardware and support launch analyses.
  • Perform causal analysis for non-conformances.
  • Data analysis and improvement projects; maintain production work instructions and testing.
  • Shadow and assist engineers on assignments and participate in larger projects.

Job Overview & Responsibilities
  • Perform the following, but not limited to analysis on existing flight hardware, perform analysis for both completed and future launches, test, and gain exposure to systems engineering, mission integration, quality assurance, system safety, launch operations, or production operations.
  • Perform causal analysis for non-conformances.
  • Perform the following, but not limited to data analysis and work on analysis methodology improvement projects, software improvement projects, manufacturer studies, process cause and corrective actions for non-conformances, maintain production work instructions, and component or integrated systems testing.
  • Internships may require travel to suppliers.
  • Support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering.

Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the ULA community and with fellow interns!

Required Education
  • At minimum completed Sophomoreyear of college or university by the time of the summer internship assignment.
  • High School/GED
Basic Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver's license and motorized vehicle transportation if assigned an internship in Alabama; California; Florida; or Pueblo, Colorado. For Denver, Colorado and Washington, DC, motorized transportation is recommended.
Role Specific Qualifications
  • At minimum, actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have plans to be enrolled in classes during Fall Semester 2027.
  • Ability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks during the Summer of 2027.
  • Exposure to root cause analysis methodology.
  • Working knowledge of basic engineering analysis tools like:
    • NX
    • SAP / Q-Notes / TeamCenter
    • Statistical Process Control Tools
    • MiniTab
    • Other design and analysis tools
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Effective presentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to complete an internship at any of the below United Launch Alliance locations:
    • Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL
    • Decatur, AL
    • Denver, CO

Summary Salary Range: CO: $23.10 - $37.95

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
