Job summary

United Launch Alliance (ULA) invites engineering interns to join a hands-on program across multiple ULA sites, including Denver, Cape Canaveral, Decatur, and Vandenberg. Interns gain exposure to flight hardware analysis, design support, and data-driven trade studies, while shadowing seasoned engineers in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Ideal candidates are pursuing STEM degrees, plan to enroll in Fall 2027, and can commit to a full-time 10-week summer internship.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale at time of application.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and transportation if assigned to certain locations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis on existing flight hardware and assist in future hardware development.
  • Conduct data analysis, tool design, and participate in trade studies and non-conformance actions.
  • Shadow senior engineers and contribute to day-to-day engineering activities.

Job Overview & Responsibilities

As an Avionics & Electrical Engineering Intern at United Launch Alliance you'll gain hands-on experience and will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform analysis on existing flight hardware, assist in the design and development of future hardware, perform analysis for both completed and future launches, test, systems engineering, mission integration, quality assurance, system safety, launch operations and production operations.
  • Perform data analysis, analysis methodology improvement projects, software improvement projects, trade studies, design for manufacturer studies, creating or modifying tool designs, processing cause and corrective actions for non-conformances, maintain production work instructions, supplier management, and component or integrated systems test.
  • Support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering.

Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the ULA community and with fellow interns!

Required Education
  • At minimum completed Sophomoreyear of college or university by the time of the summer internship assignment.
  • High School/GED
Basic Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum college GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application; cumulative, no rounding. NOTE: An unofficial transcript is required if you are invited for an interview. We recommend you upload it to your profile when you apply.
  • Must have a valid "drivers" license and motorized vehicle transportation if assigned an internship in Alabama; California; Florida; or Pueblo, Colorado. For Denver, Colorado and Washington, DC, motorized transportation is recommended.
Role Specific Qualifications
  • At minimum, actively pursuing a degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics) field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have plans to be enrolled in classes during Fall Semester 2027.
  • Ability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer of 2027.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Effective presentation, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to complete an internship at any of the below ULA's locations:
    • Denver, CO
    • Cape Canaveral, FL
    • Decatur, AL
    • Vandenberg, California
Summary Salary Range

CO: $23.10 - $37.95

CA: $24.20 - $37.95

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
