Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking an undergraduate intern for a Quality Engineering Intern role in Rockport, IN. You will support safety, testing labs, and metallurgical investigations while working with industry leaders to develop solutions.

Ideal candidate is pursuing a BS in a technical field and will complete sophomore year by 2027, with a focus on quality, safety, and process improvements. This internship offers exposure to real-world manufacturing and a pathway to future opportunities.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related technical degree.
• Completion of at least sophomore year by the summer of 2027.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for Metallurgical Department.
• Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
• Manage test equipment calibrations.
• Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on‑call support.
• Responsible for data‑mining investigations with metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.
• Responsible for Metallurgical grade maintenance and development.
• Manage 3rd party testing inspection.
