Job summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a quality engineer to apply robust quality principles across design, materials, and production, collaborating with program management, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure top quality. The role includes investigations into failures, corrective actions, and improving supplier performance.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical/electrical/aerospace or industrial engineering background with 3–8 years in high-reliability industries and hands-on ISO 9001/AS9100

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3-8 years of quality-engineering experience in space, aerospace, defense, or a high-reliability industry.
  • Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100, MIL-STD-1916, or similar standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD-L, and configuration-management data.

Responsibilities

  • Apply quality principles across design, incoming material, production control, and product evaluation.
  • Collaborate with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and customers on quality issues.
  • Engage in product failure investigations and corrective/preventive action.
  • Develop strategies to improve internal and supplier performance and productivity.
  • Evaluate quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Design and analyze inspection and testing processes and conduct product quality tests.
  • Engage in supplier selection and maintain certification programs.

Standard Job Description

Applies quality principles in the areas of: design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation, program performance, reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality for make and/or buy products. Performs technical evaluations including product requirements, specifications, models/designs, drawings and procedures. Collaborates with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and customers on quality related issues to ensure quality standards are in place. Engages in product failure investigations, material review board decisions and corrective/preventive action. Ensures corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and/or are compliant with requirements. Develops strategies and systems designed to improve internal and/or supplier performance and productivity. Evaluates quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts product quality tests, performs statistical analysis to assess products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Engages in supplier selection process and maintain certification programs.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 3-8 years of quality-engineering experience in space, aerospace, defense, or a high-reliability industry
  • hands-on experience with ISO 9001 / AS9100, MIL-STD-1916, or similar standards
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD-L, and configuration-management data
Desired Skills
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent QE Certifications
  • Kowledge of APQP, PPQP, DFMEA, and FMEA processes
  • Knowledge or experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes
  • Hands-on experience with nonconformance process documentation systems, ie. VECAMs, Automation Framework, Manufacturing Drawings, etc.
  • Experience creating or maintaining quality command media or documented procedures
  • Green Belt or Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification
  • Experience conducting / supporting internal or external audits and process surveillances
  • Strong analytical / problem solving mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (ability to produce clear reports and present findings)
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter who can work both independently and within cross-functional teams
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
