Job summary

Actalent in Mesa, AZ seeks a Quality Engineer to lead PFMEA development, Control Plans, and risk‑based quality planning on a manufacturing floor. You will work with Engineering, Production, and Quality Control to reduce defects and align with customer requirements.

You will analyze processes, establish in‑process inspections, and drive CAPA across NCR/CAR workflows, while supporting APQP/PPAP and AS9100 standards. This onsite role emphasizes hands‑on problem solving and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering required.
• 3–7+ years in a manufacturing quality role.
• Experience leading PFMEA development and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Experience creating, implementing, and maintaining Control Plans.
• Strong root cause analysis and CAPA skills (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
• Hands‑on NCR, CAR, and CAPA systems experience.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T preferred.
• Experience with PPAP/APQP and AS9100 type standards.
• ERP exposure (Epicor) and SPC using Power BI or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead PFMEA development and maintenance for core processes.
• Create and maintain Control Plans aligned to PFMEA risks.
• Identify CTQ characteristics and apply appropriate controls.
• Support APQP and PPAP activities per customer requirements.
• Drive risk‑based thinking to mitigate process variation.
• Analyze assembly, brazing, testing, and related operations for improvement.
• Develop in‑process inspection strategies to catch defects early.
• Support QAS implementation in production.
• Monitor Cp/Cpk and drive process capability improvements.
• Lead NCR/CAR/CAPAs and determine root causes.
• Lead corrective actions and verify sustained improvements.
• Track quality data trends and report findings.
• Develop inspection methods and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, QC, and suppliers.
