Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking a Quality Engineer for our onsite Orlando facility. You will monitor and analyze quality metrics to expose and resolve part defects and process failures across internal manufacturing and the external supply chain.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment with a heavy influence in precision machining, fabrication, plating, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic assembly processes.
  • Demonstrated ability improving product quality and processes through application of Lean Manufacturing principles and failure analysis methodologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard shop practices and familiarity with quality, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, service, and business processes.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and a working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience using manual inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, gages, optical comparator, scopes, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, documentation, communication and follow through to achieve problem resolution/closure.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage and prioritize daily tasks to meet departmental and company objectives.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze quality metrics/data to identify trends requiring further examination to determine root cause of failure, recommends/implements corrective and preventive action plans, executes containment actions and monitors progress to ensure closure.
  • Investigates manufacturing and customer service generated floor problems and proposes appropriate course of action to resolve issues and prevent recurrence based on manufacturing and customer service generated discrepancy records.
  • Correlates data collected within the MRP system and various business databases.
  • Produces and distributes Quality metric reports.
  • Monitor the release of controlled documents and ensure documentation adheres to manufacturing and established processes.
  • Perform internal process audits to ensure compliance.
  • Tracks supplier quality performance; communicates non-conformances with internal departments and suppliers; issues and tracks SCAR; monitors RCCAPA to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Performs analyses and dispositions defects for internally and externally supplied hardware utilizing the NOD, Floor Problem, MRA, Stocksweep, and Rework processes.
  • Recommends and develops Quality procedures/work instructions; assists with training department personnel.
  • Performs manufacturing process verification and assists in supplier quality audits; reviews engineering design change requests that affect product, process, or cost.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and safety program; performs general and miscellaneous functions within the Quality department.
