Job summary

Mesa Power Solutions in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a Quality Engineer I to support the development and improvement of quality systems and manufacturing controls. You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Design, Supply Chain, and Service to identify quality risks, investigate issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.

The role requires data-driven problem solving, PFMEA/Control Plans familiarity, and hands-on QA on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to quality engineering.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing quality experience and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and CAPA processes.
  • Strong root-cause analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain inspection plans and quality requirements.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions using structured methods.
  • Manage nonconformances, containment, and effectiveness verification.
  • Support PFMEA, PFDP, and process capability studies with data.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on corrective actions and audits.
  • Prepare technical reports on investigations, trends, and recommendations.

The position requires a strong floor presence and the ability to use data, structured problem-solving, risk analysis, and engineering principles to improve product quality and process capability.Essential DutiesDevelop, implement, and maintain inspection plans, Control Plans, acceptance criteria, and quality requirements for new and existing products and manufacturing processes.Support Process and Manufacturing Engineering with process validation, process controls, manufacturing readiness, risk reduction, and continuous improvement activities.Lead and support structured root cause analysis and corrective action using methodologies such as 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D, CAPA, and other appropriate problem-solving tools.Manage and support product and process nonconformances, including containment, investigation, disposition support, corrective action, and effectiveness verification.Collaborate with Process Engineering in the development and maintenance of Process FMEAs (PFMEA), process flow diagrams, Control Plans, and risk-based manufacturing controls.Support Design Engineering and Reliability Engineering with quality data, failure analysis, design feedback, and lessons learned from manufacturing and field performance.Develop and validate inspection and test methods, including Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Gage R&R, equipment capability, and measurement repeatability.Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis, trend analysis, Pareto analysis, and other statistical methods to identify variation and improve manufacturing performance.Monitor and analyze quality performance through metrics including First-Pass Yield (FPY), defect rates, scrap, rework, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), corrective-action effectiveness, and process capability.Support new-product introduction and manufacturing readiness activities using applicable APQP, PPAP, validation, and quality-planning principles.Review engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, BOMs, and technical requirements to ensure appropriate quality controls are established.Work directly with suppliers and Supplier Quality to investigate supplier-related nonconformances, establish containment, and implement effective supplier corrective actions.Participate in and support process audits, product audits, layered process audits, and Quality Management System audits.Identify opportunities for mistake-proofing, defect prevention, process control, and reduction of inspection dependency.Provide technical quality support to Manufacturing and Service when product or process abnormalities occur.Prepare clear technical reports documenting investigations, validation activities, quality trends, corrective actions, and recommendations.Ensure quality activities and records comply with Mesa's Quality Management System and applicable customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.Promote a culture of quality at the source, standardized work, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.Perform other quality engineering responsibilities as required to support business and operational objectives.All other duties assigned.EducationRequired4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or another related technical discipline preferred;
