Job summary

Actalent, a global engineering services company, seeks a Quality Engineer for its Reidsville, NC facility to implement robust quality systems in a high-volume environment. You will liaise between manufacturing teams and customers, ensuring products meet requirements and regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes CAPA, SPC, and Six Sigma-style continuous improvement, with opportunities to mentor staff and lead cost-reducing quality projects on a fully onsite basis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
• 35 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, TS16949, or similar standards.
• Demonstrated experience with quality engineering practices, including root cause analysis and internal auditing.
• Strong knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and core quality tools such as FMEA, control plans, and measurement system analysis (MSA).
• Proficiency with quality management software and databases for tracking nonconformances, CAPA, and quality metrics.
• Experience with measurement systems and calibration programs to ensure accuracy and reliability of inspection equipment.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production systems in a high-volume environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive evidence-based decisions.
• Strong project management capabilities, including planning, prioritizing, and executing multiple initiatives concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain quality procedures and work instructions to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct internal audits of the quality management system and oversee CAPA processes.
• Lead quality system improvements to ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
• Establish and maintain statistical process control (SPC) systems for critical manufacturing processes to monitor and improve performance.
• Design and implement inspection plans, test procedures, and quality checkpoints throughout the production line to ensure consistent product quality.
• Investigate and resolve quality issues by performing root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate closely with production teams to achieve first-time quality, reduce defect rates, and improve overall process capability.
• Lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction within manufacturing operations and drive corresponding improvement projects.
• Develop and implement improvement projects that enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
• Train and mentor production staff on quality tools, problem-solving techniques, and best practices in quality management.
• Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
