Job summary

General Motors in Orion, Michigan, is seeking aQuality Engineer for Electrical Modules to serve as the single point of contact for module and software concerns impacting the assembly plant. This role collaborates with suppliers and engineering to resolve issues and safeguard plant operations.

You will work with the plant Electrical Team to manage SPPS, PRTS, and PTRS processes, ensuring accurate problem containment and data-driven improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years experience with automotive electrical subsystems.
• Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated with high analytical ability.
• Ability to translate executive summaries to non-technical people.
• Thorough knowledge of GMS and BIQ4 deliverables.
• Knowledge of GEPICs/SPR and correlation to software releases to the plant.

Responsibilities

• Single point of contact for module reflash.
• Write SPPS/PRTS for software/module issues.
• Ensure TWO/EWO breakpoints are executed correctly with CIC Coordinator.
• Manage module scrap tracking and defect containment with supplier team.
• Support Electrical BoO elements and DRR/BIQ4 metrics.
• Provide test files and logs when needed.
• Enhance warranty performance and plant throughput via problem solving.

This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Orion, MI on a full-time basis.The Role:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer for Electrical Modules to act as the single point of contact for module and software concerns impacting the assembly plant. This role works issues back to suppliers and engineering for resolution, supports problem-solving with parts associated with modules and software, and manages PTR, SPPS, and PRTS processes to protect customers and plant operations. The QE will work directly with the plant Electrical Team to ensure issues are properly managed.What You'll Do:Single point contact for module reflashEnsure re-flashed parts are used correctlyWrite SPPS/PRTS for software/module issues provided by diagnosticianEnsure TWO/EWO breakpoints are executed correctly by working with the CIC CoordinatorSingle point of contact to the Electrical Team for VeSCom releases after launchManage AVG ignores to ensure they are tracked, implemented, and correctly removed when necessary, by directly communicating with the DVT CoordinatorModule scrap tracking and resolution on defective partsMaintain supplier module tester list and assure all defects are consistently containedSupport GCA Electrical sufficiencySupport all Electrical BoO elementsImprove programming metric to support Electrical First-time quality goal of 94.5%Support other Electrical team members as needed/directedImprove programming metric as a critical component of DRR and meeting >95% for BIQ4Provide test files when needed (snapshot, fault file, Vehicle Spy Log Files, etc.)Improve pass rate at GBFTT to enhance warranty performance and plant throughputUse PTR, SPPS, and PRTS processes to eliminate product issuesRequired Qualifications:Minimum 3+ years previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systemsStrong interpersonal and team building skillsStrong written and oral communication skillsSelf-motivatedStrong analytical abilityAble to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidenceMust be able to continually innovateAbility to help root cause highly complex issues and work well with Product and Engineers and translate executive summaries to non-technical peopleThorough working knowledge of GMS and BIQ4 DeliverablesKnowledge of GEPICs/SPR and correlation to software release to the plantPreferred Qualifications:Prior manufacturing plant experience in either Electrical or Plant Floor OperationsQuality system knowledge of processes in manufacturingDVT Experience or Electrical EngineeringStrong analytical/problem solving skills with capability to identify solutionsThorough knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements and how they impact the build processGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
