Job summary

General Motors in Orion, MI is seeking a Quality Engineer for Electrical Modules to act as the single point of contact for module and software concerns impacting the assembly plant. This role will work issues back to suppliers and engineering, manage PTR/SPPS/PRTS, and support Electrical team objectives.

You will improve programming metrics and drive first-time quality towards targets, with occasional travel and relocation benefits for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years experience with automotive electrical sub-systems.
• Strong written and oral communication; able to translate summaries for non-technical audiences.
• Ability to drive root-cause analysis and decision making in a fast-paced plant environment.
• Knowledge of GMS and BIQ4 Deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Single point of contact for module reflash and related parts issues.
• Write SPPS/PRTS for software/module issues from diagnostician.
• Coordinate with CIC for TWO/EWO breakpoints.
• Manage AVG ignores with DVT Coordinator.
• Module scrap tracking and containment of defective parts.
• Maintain supplier module tester list and containment.
• Support Electrical BoO and GCA Electrical sufficiency.
• Improve programming metrics toward 94.5% first-time quality.
• Provide test files when needed (snapshot, fault file, Vehicle Spy logs).
• Assist other Electrical team members as needed.

This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Orion, MI on a full-time basis. **The Role:**We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer for Electrical Modules to act as the single point of contact for module and software concerns impacting the assembly plant. This role works issues back to suppliers and engineering for resolution, supports problem-solving with parts associated with modules and software, and manages PTR, SPPS, and PRTS processes to protect customers and plant operations. The QE will work directly with the plant Electrical Team to ensure issues are properly managed. **What You'll Do:*** Single point contact for module reflash* Ensure re-flashed parts are used correctly* Write SPPS/PRTS for software/module issues provided by diagnostician* Ensure TWO/EWO breakpoints are executed correctly by working with the CIC Coordinator* Single point of contact to the Electrical Team for VeSCom releases after launch* Manage AVG ignores to ensure they are tracked, implemented, and correctly removed when necessary, by directly communicating with the DVT Coordinator* Module scrap tracking and resolution on defective parts* Maintain supplier module tester list and assure all defects are consistently contained* Support GCA Electrical sufficiency* Support all Electrical BoO elements* Improve programming metric to support Electrical First-time quality goal of 94.5%* Support other Electrical team members as needed/directed* Improve programming metric as a critical component of DRR and meeting >95% for BIQ4* Provide test files when needed (snapshot, fault file, Vehicle Spy Log Files, etc.)* Improve pass rate at GBFTT to enhance warranty performance and plant throughput* Use PTR, SPPS, and PRTS processes to eliminate product issues **Required Qualifications:*** Minimum 3+ years previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systems* Strong interpersonal and team building skills* Strong written and oral communication skills* Self-motivated* Strong analytical ability* Able to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidence* Must be able to continually innovate* Ability to help root cause highly complex issues and work well with Product and Engineers and translate executive summaries to non-technical people* Thorough working knowledge of GMS and BIQ4 Deliverables* Knowledge of GEPICs/SPR and correlation to software release to the plant **Preferred Qualifications:*** Prior manufacturing plant experience in either Electrical or Plant Floor Operations* Quality system knowledge of processes in manufacturing* DVT Experience or Electrical Engineering* Strong analytical/problem solving skills with capability to identify solutions* Thorough knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements and how they impact the build processGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
