Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Quality Engineer I intern in Bedford, IN. You will drive problem solving and data-driven resolutions between production, engineering, suppliers, and supplier quality at a GM manufacturing plant.

You’ll validate measurements, contain defects, and coordinate containment activities while supporting new product launches. Role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to distill complex topics for a broader audience.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Quality Engineering.
• Graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Interact with production and engineering on part measurement results to part print specifications to assure quality and reliability.
• Ensure effective containment and resolution to identified non-conforming product.
• Communicate emerging issues for responsible components daily to Quality Systems Manager.
• Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills.
• Validate supplier scrap.
• Work with SPPS process on supplier related issues.
• Support PTR Process by running PTRs and evaluating impact on the product/function.
• Support launch activities of new products.
