Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field.
• 3–5+ years in quality engineering, manufacturing quality, or customer quality in metals.
• Experience investigating customer complaints and product nonconformances.
• Experienced with 8D reporting and customer corrective action systems.
• Knowledge of metallurgical properties and testing for steel, copper, aluminum; PPAP a plus.
• Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems.
• Familiarity with ERP or quality management software systems.
• Strong root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specs, and material certifications.
• Occasional travel 5–15% for customer visits/investigations.
• Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for customer quality complaints and claims.
• Lead investigations to determine root cause using structured tools.
• Coordinate containment actions for identified quality issues.
• Prepare formal responses, 8D reports, and corrective action documentation.
• Track trends in complaints, returns, and claims with cross-functional teams.
• Support continuous improvement to reduce defects and dissatisfaction.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, supplier quality, and operations.
• Maintain quality records and support audits.
