Overview
Quality Engineer position (Contract to hire, no C2C).
Must be local to Cincinnati, Ohio; this is an in-office role.
Responsibilities
- Design innovative, preventative quality strategies and shift-left practices.
- Build and maintain scalable test automation and quality monitoring frameworks.
- Develop end-to-end testing strategies tailored to product risk and release cycles.
- Optimize resource usage while balancing test coverage and speed-to-market.
- Lead Quality Engineering Strategy by designing, implementing, and championing best-in-class testing frameworks across teams, focusing on functional and performance testing for critical retail applications.
- Drive test automation and modern practices using Karate/BDD, Selenium, API testing, and related tools to build intelligent, scalable, and maintainable test automation frameworks.
- Act as a quality advocate across engineering squads, working with Account Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to align goals and timelines.
- Contribute to system modernization by transforming legacy systems into modern, customer-facing applications.
- Implement robust performance testing and production validation strategies to ensure high-quality experiences in live environments.
Technical Skills
- API Testing: Deep experience with API functionality and data integrity testing
- Karate: Proficient in using Karate for service and integration testing
- Test Data management: Strong understanding of data-driven testing
- Performance Testing: Hands-on with performance testing tools and methodologies
- Test Automation & Frameworks: Skilled in BDD, CI/CD integration, and cross-platform automation
- Service Virtualization & Cloud Testing: Experience with virtual services and cloud-native test environments
Analytical & Communication Skills
- Translate quality data into business-impact insights
- Forecast and mitigate risks using predictive models
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders to drive faster delivery and better outcomes
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in quality engineering with increasing responsibility
- Proven leadership in testing strategy across multiple teams or large organizations
- Proficiency in modern QA tools and frameworks (Karate, Selenium, REST APIs, JMeter, etc.)
- Experience in Agile/DevOps environments and test automation in CI/CD pipelines
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
